They call it Clappy love

I never considered myself a flibbertigibbet. While I have never claimed to be a one-WIP girl, I do pride myself on being loyal, in a mildy polygamous way, to my current projects, which I keep to those I can count off on one hand. What's more, I am stubborn to a fault, and never, ever give up on even the most wayward ones. They are all my loved ones.

But then along came Clapotis. It was certainly never lust at first sight - I shunned the Clapotis early on as much too common. She was seen all over town, on all sorts of needles, in just about any yarn that cared to cast a sideways glance in her direction. And she's no spring chicken - 2004 for heaven's sake! This is one pattern that's been around the block a few times - in fact I'd bet there a few of you out there who's mothers have done Clapotis.

But then I caught a glimpse of RoseRed's and Shazmina's Clapotis. I started to get a stirring in my nether regions (my fingers!). And, despite not one, but two, deadline projects on my needles right now, I have finally succumbed to the siren song of the Clapotis.

Never let it be said I'm easy - I needed to find the perfect colourway. Nothing so common as off the shelf yarn, thankyou: I asked the Happy Spider to dye me some. Be still my beating heart:

Clapotis has got the right stuff, let me tell you - I was hooked after the first few rows. Drawn right into her web. So seductive, watching the little triangle pour out from my needles. She whispers all the right things in my ear: you're so good, no one knits me like you do, look at the way I respond to your touch.....I would have thrown my morals out the window ages ago if someone had told me how much fun she is to knit!

And I'm not even feeling guilty about the other WIPs in my basket, even the deadline ones. Such is the power of the Clapotis.

But, as those of you with children would know, the little darlings are always popping up just a exactly the wrong moment, just when you're getting intimate.

Sweet, isn't he? Want him?

I am so enamoured of her, that I'm not at all perturbed by the knowledge that Clapotis is spreading the love around. Its even better knowing that I'm sharing her with someone dear to me - Tinkingbell and I are having a little Clapotis Love-In.

George!!!! A truly laugh out loud funny post.

Is mild polygamy anything like being a little bit pregnant?

Getting down and dirty with clappy love. I'm so glad you didn't title your post 'I've got the clap.'

tee hee

It looks beautiful in all seriousness. I'm feeling the lust myself.

I can see the tag line now - Happy Spider Yarn is Tonka Tough!

It's a beautiful thing, George. Enjoy your new love.

I have managed to ignore the whisperings and invitations ("come on, you know you want to") so far. I don't wear shaws or scarves and I don't know anyone who does. However, if I keep seeing such beautiful examples, I am afraid I will have to succumb.

You are sooo funny! Between the line about people's mothers having already knitting Clapotis and the digger, I'm going to be giggling all day.

Don't you know, I'm flirting with the possibility of Clap love myself? I think Donyale's yarn might make a nice scarf-width Clapotis.

But (*rolling my eyes smugly*) I have my morals. I shall finish at least ONE current project first.

(You know I'm just kidding about the smug thing, right? :-)

Best of luck in your new relationship, it's so good you two've reached an understanding.

What beautiful yarn! And so tough, too! Pirate Jim's adorable, he can come play at my place any day (as long as i don't have to cover his air fair...). He and my Jim could bond over trucks and machinery and being male and such.

Great post, you've got a gift for comedy.

Love the yarn - and what's wrong with starting your post 'I've got the clap'? I was going to use that and now I can't - I'm casting on today - I thought I'd have a tiny cable holiday tonigth - gosh you've done lots - i shall have to catch up!

Bells got there first but "mildly polygamous" made me laugh too!

As you know I can be a bit of a bandwagon-avoider, but the Clap is just such a simple great pattern. (I've knit three in diff sizes!)

Ah... looks gorgeous!! Love the look of the happy spider wool!!
(and, working in childcare, I couldn't help but wonder if you checked the tonka truck to make sure it was free of sand/mud/drool before you let it near your wool.... or whether you felt that those might enhance the project!)

ahahahahahahaha! Love it!! And that colourway is PERFECT!
You know, I have found that the Clap is indeed a disease. I am on my 3rd dose of it, I just cant clear it up!!!

you know, i never thought of you as a shades-of-pink colourway type but that is gorgeous, as is all spider yarn! and it will look lovely, even if it does come complete with tyre tread marks!

It's my turn to snort out loud. With the timming of my kids I'm surprised we were able to get kid #2 and #3.

Sigh....I hear you....for I too have loose morals. I listen to the soft purr and seductive come ons of a new project no matter how empty I know their promises to be. I am weak. But at least I know that I'm not alone.

oooh, I think we're on the same lust cycle George - I'd been thinking about starting one of these babies until I saw Olivia's at S'n'B the other week and decided I had to have one too!
I haven't cast on yet but I think it'll be soon! =)

Oh noes, I'm going to catch it from you, aren't I?! VERY funny post, George :D The Clappy looks simply gorgeous!

And no, I don't want him, sweet as he is. Been there, done that, got the permanent psychological damage, LOL!
