So now the telly is sitting on a box covered with a sarong and we are playing freezer roulette for dinner and reminiscing about we were students and this was standard practice! All we need is the bricks-and-planks bookcase to complete the look.
Of course moving house means moving phone and internet connections, so we'll be offline for the next few days. Not that I've been particularly communicative the last weeks (sorry if I owe you an email! I still love you, honest!), but at least I could be found if needed. I'll check back in when we're all hooked up again.

I also have a request. My non-blogging, non-Ravelrying friend, Dr Fe, is desperately seeking a discontinued yarn. Its for a Zoe Mellor pattern (fair isle cardi - Rav link) that she'd like to knit for her daughter, Little Miss M. I thought I'd throw the request out there and see if anyone has a ball lurking at the bottom of the stash. Hell, even part of a ball might do it - its for part of the the pattern, not the main colour.
She's after just one ball of Rowan Cotton Glace in the colour Bud (800). It seems to be as rare as hen's teeth. If you can help Dr Fe out, please let me know.
Alternatively, if you can suggest a substitute (that will knit up fine in fair isle in combo with the Cotton Glace - she has all the other colourways for the pattern), please let me know too! It seems to be on of those annoyingly unique yarns - not quite a 5ply, listed as DK in yarndex....
Thanks!
See you on the other side of packing box hell.....

I did for a second think I could help on the Rowan front but the remnants I have of a long ago project are in burgundy, which, now I've looked it up, is not Bud.
You're almost there, George. Very nearly there. Looking forward to seeing you guys settled!
GOOD LUCK! I know it's not fun at all to move while pregnant and with a toddler. I hope it all goes as smoothly as possible for you.
Have a wonderful move and enjoy the freezer roulette - this will, of course, continue for the next 3 months as you try to find where you packed the frypan, the corkscrew and the pillows!
Good luck with move George!
Now, what actual colour is "Bud"? I can't find it on the innernets. I've got some cotton glace but not sure about substitutions. I'd call cotton glace a sportweight (definitely not DK...stupid yarndex!!). Also, did you try the ISO group on Ravelry? or the Rowan Love group? Someone there might be able to help. Or maybe someone else who's made the cardi on Ravelry might have some leftover??
Oh good luck with the unpacking. I had a Besser block and plank bookcase, curtains made out of a sheet and chairs from the Singlemen's quarters!! Those were the days!!
I'm glad those days are pretty much over, 2paw! Yep, did the hole sheet curtain, sitting on the floor to watch TV cos couldn't afford a couch etc as a student. I had fun but not unhappy that i can afford a couch now!
Good luck with the move. Lots of fingers crossed that this will be the last for about 5 years minimum. Just think of how much stash you'll be able to accumulate!
Last freezer roulette saw me defrosting a weird lump of bone-ish stuff - turned out to be grated ginger! We had stir fry that night : )
PS, it can't be much longer until de-bumping. Thinking of you and hoping that the move doesn't rush things along.
I hope you're taking some time to rest and take care of yourself while all this whirlwind is going on. Good, good luck with the move!
Good luck with the move! (I'm guessing you don't want to hear that way back in the day I DID have Cotton Glace in Bud.... so I'll leave that part out.)
I've got one ball of Cotton Glace in a maroony colour, but not Bud, alas. Good luck with the move.
