This is....my latest discovery

Good old milk. It's not especially amazing, and yes its the whim of a hormone-addled pregnant chick, but I have (re)discovered milk these last couple of months. On its own or chocolate milkshake, I can't get enough. Smitten.

Afternoon tea at work is a walk across the way to caf to buy a litre of nice cold milk. My colleagues think Ive gone bonkers. (that is not an open invitation to agree!!)

A couple of big glasses before bed sees me through the 2am munchies.

And since I'm trying to limit my caffeine intake, a choccy milkshake is the go when I'm meeting friends or colleagues for coffee.

I'd just like to thank all the cows out there....cheers!

This is my latest discovery, Part II:

I drafted the above before dinner, but now that we've had dinner, I have to share this with you:

Pirate Jim loves brussels sprouts! He scarfed three at dinner, in preference to the sausage also on his plate. That boy loves his veggies!

I wonder how long that miracle is going to last....

Good on Pirate Jim, I LOVE Brussel Sprouts. Milk on the other hand- NO!!I have never recovered from my school milk experience. Never....
I am glad you are enjoying it though!!!

I've loved milk obsessively all my life. Does this mean if we go out for after work drinks, it'll be milkshakes all round?

Let's do it!

And I've seen that boy with his veggies. I'm not surprised.

Can we switch sons?...Oh wait, you probably want to keep the fluff INSIDE your sleeping bags and not used as a show and tell item. So I doubt if you'll go for it.

I have to start the day with chocolate milk. I'm off coffee, too, and the chocolate milk helps. Plus, it puts a little something in my stomach first thing in the morning. And when I'm really thirsty, I reach for the chocolate milk. Mmmmm.

Now that it's getting warmer, when other people are getting iced coffee, I'm getting a smoothie. Isn't that responsible of me?

Milk has always been my drink of choice--Momolla used to joke that she couldn't keep it in the house when I lived at home. And oh, the milkshakes. Perfect to have socially, and responsible, too.

It's great PJ likes his veggies. Near as I can tell, kids enjoy them more when you don't force them to eat greens. I never had asparagus growing up (my parents hate it), and I think it's pretty tasty stuff.

I still drink milk. At least once every day. It has kept my bones nice and strong. So strong that when I fell, I dislocated my ankle instead of breaking it. It would have been better to break it. All of my children drink milk. And yes, it lasts longer now that Em has moved out!

Milk, milk, beautiful milk! Pour it in with a grin, drink it down and wipe your chin!

(but you're probably not old enough to remember that ad, hey George!)

And to the brussels sprouts, I say EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Yum - milk - we're a milk house! at least 13 litres a week and I adore lattes - so mmmmmm milk (and the kids get milkshakes as their dessert some days!

Wish my kid would eat more veggies - they were better when they were little! Although sometimes Destructoboy goes on a broccoli jag - and eats everyones!!

I've never recovered from growing up overseas and having to drink powdered milk... it was yellow, and... ew... powdery. Gross. But brussels sprouts I LOVE!

The love of veggies may continue; DD is now 22 and still loves hers!

As for milk, we went to NZ in 1975, the milk there was rich and creamy; I was completely turned off the Sydney product on return. Later, in my 30s, I developed lactose intolerance [which strangely rarely affects me when I eat cheese] so I eat my cereal dry every morning! I drink black tea and rarely drink milkshakes [which I used to love] - even hot chocolate made mostly on water [as it often is in cafes] sets off the queasy feelings!

im glad youre finally getting settled and feeling healthy. i love me a good litre of milk but i have no baby-production excuse! and there is im afraid something inherently unnatural about a child willingly eating brussel sprouts. what are you doing down there?!

Great that PJ loves BSs but I'm with 50% of the above commenters when I say, *blech*. I'll eat them occasionally as they make an admirable vehicle for horseradish cream. Did I ever tell you of my recipe for brussel sprout lasagne? This recipe is one that the BS factor is reduced to harmonious levels.

Milk - gee I wish I could have drunk more while I was pregnant but for me it was a choice between eating or drinking milk and eating usually won out. (I had lots of problems trying to eat enough during the pregnancy.) I'm trying to make up for it now... I manage about 3 lattes a week!
