Yet again, another week (and more!) has slipped by and my blog lies neglected. Ive missed yet another This is....but I dont think you really want to see a photo of my forehead, since my brain is my main creative space right now - I dont really have a physical space right now.
My first blogiversary was sometime in April, a date which I duly missed. I voiced my regrets to Bells, and said "that's OK, my 100th post is coming up, I'll celebrate then". I thought she was being a teeny bit unkind when she said "Oh, sometime around June then?". But of course she was right. I just checked - this is post 97.
Maybe July then? Har har.
I finally finished work on Thursday, after scrambling a few last minute items for my manager. Despite all his claims that I didnt need to do any handover notes, and trying to brief him for several weeks, I spent an hour with him on Tuesday morning explaining one small part of the what Id been doing for the last two years - how I'd put it together and where the files were.
At least they gave me morning tea!
Today is really the first day I've felt like I can settle and take a breath and "start" my leave - we went to visit Mum and Dad on Friday for the weekend, then Monday and Tuesday have been full of appointments and errands.
Including one with my OB, who calmly said "So 10 days to go then?". Hmmm. Yup. 10 days. 8 now.
That means 8 days to get through the huge list of things to do that Ive been compiling for the last couple of months: "things to do when Im on leave". Like catch up on our 7 or 8 loads of washing, find and wash all the teeny tiny baby clothes, the cot sheets and the spew cloths, set up the nursery room so I can find said things, clean the pram, clean the grusome alien life-forms out of the fridge, try and get through some more unpacking / re-organising / decluttering (that's wishful thinking!). I'll be a lady of lesuire.
That also means 9 days until the next tranche of Germans for 2008 arrive - Beloved's sister and her 3 girls (aged 10, 11 and 13). In their (and my) defense, they booked in first, a whole year ago. Its just a quirk of timing.
But it does mean 4 extra people (5 when their dad arrives 3 weeks later) at a time when things are already likley to be somewhat busy. However, they're very self-reliant and although it will be crowded and busy and hectic, it wil all be OK.
There has been some knitting, but that will be blogged later when it's gifted. Hopefully soon - it's already overdue.
There has also been significant expansion in the bump department since I last updated you - but that's another post.
Who knows, now that I'm a lady of lesiure, maybe I'll get to post 100 this week!

I think post #100 has to the one when you announce the arrival of Hank, brother of PJ. (and no, fellow readers, I'm not giving away the sex, just my brilliant idea for a name if it's a boy...which I'm convinced it is!!).
Its about time you're a lady of leisure.
Let's just hope the kleintjie gives you all the days to do the things you need to before it arrives. :)
Enjoy the quiet time, and looking forward to the blogoversary. ;)
Dearest I never meant to be unkind! When I said it I should have added, 'because I love reading your blog so much and you post too little for my liking!'
Yes, there is significant expansion in the bump department. You look fit to burst. And I'm with RoseRed. Hank is an excellent name!
And if not Hank, then I think that excellent German/Scandinavian/Dutch name "Skein". Suitable for either boy or girl.
Oh dear. I read the list of the things to do and the number of days and I have a sinking feeling you'll be going early. I am, of course, using the Murphy's Law causal events theorem. Perhaps it might not be a bad idea to draft the SIL for assistance in preparations when she arrives? Are you going to have an arrival comp?
(That was me above, Beloved forgot to sign out of blugger.)
With all those guests in the house, you shouldn't have to worry about entertaining PJ. You could also play pass the baby around so that you can take a nap.
What about Purl....I mean Pearl as a girl's name?
That does not sound like leisure. To assure you, if you were going much early, you'd have been driven to wash those baby clothes a long time ago. Trust me on that one. Who insists on washing the baby clothes at 33 wk 6 d? Someone who has the baby the very next day, that's who. Remember to take care of yourself. You absolutely cannot be the hostess--you'll have a brand new baby!
Skein!!! Michelle is a freaking genius. I love it.
Whew. The only "nesting" I did was to unpack two big plastic garbage bags of baby clothes from a girlfriend all over my bed and then get weepy because I was too tired to sort them out and couldn't take a nap until I got them back off the bed.
I think I would have hidden in the closet, myself, if people had come over to visit.
What's wrong with Shorn and Shorna - sorry - Sean and Shawna? Visitors were actually useful with Number 2 - they could entertain number 1 (who was feeling somewhat neglected), do the washing, play with children so I could nap, cook, wash up and generally be helpers and gofers!
At first I was thinking "Holy Schnappin' Moly" - vistors and you are still, erm, 'healing'....but then I thought about all that HELP on TAP! Wonderful.
I don't know what they are all talking about - "Helmut" is such a nice name, as is "Weibeke"....
Morning tea?? I hope there was a nice present too. Why do management never believe those being 'managed'???
I thought, oh visitors too, then I thought of the possibilities of some extra hands!! Hope you have lots of time to breathe!!
I googled a list of sheep breeds and may I suggest 'Easycare' as a good name!!!!!!
Um.... leisure? What leisure, exactly?! I'm actually getting a little gaspy for you, honey! OK - now I'm off to check out that picture above! Is that you? At nine months?! I wish I looked that good! I was one of those huge pregger people who looked nine months on when I was only three.... oh well. It's over now. I should get over it. Good luck with everything if I don't "talk" to you beforehand!
