New Year FOs

Because it's been too hot around here (and because I'm feeling too fat and too tired) to do much more than this:

knitting has been limited to small things. (PJ and I are discussing whether or not the Australian cricket captain should have resigned in the wake of the recent controversy over sportsmanship. I say yes; he's a softie and says no. Just in case you were wondering)

After Bells and I went on a little cotton finding mission a couple of weeks ago, I have been feeling the dishcloth love (yeah I know, you all discovered that about a hundred years ago - I'm slow on the uptake).

I do love Anchor Magicline. Violent psychedelic colourways and all.

The pattern is Garter stitch lace from the Dishcloth Boutique. How much fun are dishcloths? I've cast on another straight away.

The little tags you see attached are for this project that I've signed up for. Performance anxiety means this is the first thing I've done, but I've got another in the works. More on that another time.

The second hot-enough-for-ya? FO is a Roll Brim baby hat for some friends in the village, Jens and Melanie, who have just had their first baby, a little boy called Janne. I love this pattern - dead easy and super quick.

It's in Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran, a little darker blue than has shown up here. This is, in my opinion, the perfect yarn for this hat. Lovely and soft, and although not machine washable, a beanie isn't a high-wash item.

So, hopefully that's broken the FO drought.

Now if you'll excuse me, there's a cuppa, a dishcloth and the couch waiting.

Hey Georgie =)
Gorgeous colours you've been working with - I love the colours in the hat and the dishcloth.
The knitter project looks cool - but how does it work with the tags?
Love the photo of you and PJ as well =) xo

You're not the last one to discover dishcloths - I am! We were discussing their merits tonight at SnB and I think I might be hooked on the idea (pardon the pun).

And I'm with PJ.

Snap!! Only my feet are in the Labradors' paddle pool in the back yard or in a bucket on the verandah!!! And I have made 2 7/8 dishcloths in the last 2 days!! The Magicline does look like it was dyed by monkeys sometimes!! I am using a subdued one. Lovely little hat, it is pretty good: simple yet snazzy!!! Hope it is cooler for you soon, we have had 3 cool days and I feel like a real person again!!!

Oh, I like yours in color lots better than the solid-color one on the website.

Dishcloths are great, so fast. Love that instant gratification.

I'm with you on the cricket "scandal" - sigh. Our cricketers are, by and large, an arrogant bunch aren't they.

Dishcloths rock! As does wacky Anchor Magicline. And the hat is very cute!

you need to have a caption contest for that photo. Look at the way he's sitting, poised, mid conversation!

It's all, ''So then I said, I'm telling you, I'm not interested in a Wiggles tribute band. I just can't see the need for it.'

he he

Loving the dishcloth. I've gotta sink my teeth into my purchases too!

Sitting with your feet in the wading pool looks/sounds good to me - after all, it's January, summer holidays and all that.

And look at the great company you keep. :-) Enjoy it while you can.

right, its official. blogger hates me. this is the second time in two days that i have posted a comment that i see once and then it disappears. i said i was with rosered on the cricket front, disgusting behaviour, ponting is a fool, and that i hoped one day to make a roll brim baby hat, and that i was bloody glad to not be in the Can right now. heat and all. got that? good.

That is such a pretty dishcloth! I bought the knitting-pattern-a-day calendar, and I plan to try and make all the dishcloths in it (I think they were stretching for content on some days...)

The paddly pool looks comfy. Maybe I'll have to invest in one, since the hot weather doesn't seem to be leaving. (I'm the new one from SnB last night, btw...)

I remember the days of kiddie pools. Sitting back and relaxing while your little one plays in the water. Then having to change the water daily as your little one had an accident in the water....ahh those were the days.

OH yes and what's not to love about violent psychedelic colourways. The hat is cute and what's not to love about dead easy and super quick in stinky hot weather.

I have yet to make a dishcloth. The bug has not bitten, yet. I did give Emily some yarn and instructions for Christmas. She was very keen to try some. I can't wait to see how she makes out.

You're not allowed to feel fat, you're lovely! And it looks like you had such a lot of fun sitting with Pirate Jim and having a conversation. The finished objects look great, I may just steal that pattern from you and try that for my first dishcloth. The hat is adorable, I'll bet your neighbors love it.

Very cute hat! And yeah, I'm pretty slow on the dishcloth bandwagon too - I've made one or two, but something hasn't clicked yet... love those colours, Anchor does amazing colourways!

Good plan on the wading pool ... at least today was a bit cooler. And lastly - You Are Not Fat :)
